jyuunes 7: 05 pm:
sawwwppp
i just
came back
from da lessons
he's cool
liike always. lol
Daniel 7: 05 pm:
how were they?!?!
jyuunes 7: 05 pm:
i actually sort of
expected him to bring his horn, but he didn't
but it's ok
Daniel 7: 06 pm:
so what did you learn?!
jyuunes 7: 06 pm:
LOL CALM DOWN
hold on
Daniel 7: 06 pm:
xD but private lessons so exciting
jyuunes 7: 06 pm:
okay so like
LOL XD
okay so like
he knocked onthe door
and then i wuz ilke
MAWWWWM
mawwwm
and theni opened it
and he wuz just liek
HAAAAY
and then we stepped in
and we did stuffs in the kitchen
and then he wuz all
jyuunes 7: 07 pm:
"hay do you have a stand
"uhhh no"
"okay brb yo gettin' mah stand"
so he gets this PRO STAND and stuff
and then first we played from da technique bewk
well, i did. l ol
and then i just played it and
he stopped me at some places, explained sum stuff
like when i go to low A to low C, i need to make the transition smoother
and i shouldn't worry about making mistakes
on notes
he said that expressing is more important
in fact, he said
"the worst offense that a musician cna do is play without expression"
Daniel 7: 08 pm:
well that is true
i mean
our instruments are just an extension of our bodies
it changes our natural instrument, our voice and breath into a different sound
jyuunes 7: 09 pm:
yeah
Daniel 7: 09 pm:
we need to express ourselves through our instrument
jyuunes 7: 09 pm:
so uhm
and then he said
well it was becuase
i was playing the notes but i was sort of scared of getting the wrong note
so i didn't play as loud as i should be
and then he said that
and uh, for under the irish sky
i was trying to get the AKSDFNKSDFNKSDF part down
and he said that first, i should say
"blah blah blah blah" while fingering the notes in rhythm
so i did that, and then he said
that the brain, biologically, is much more advanced than the body
like, the body is so slow compared to our brain in terms of advancement
the body needs a lot of repetition to learn, but the brain doesn't
so sometimes when you feel frustrated like "aSDFKNSDFKN why can't i get this thing down"
you need to repeat it a lot and a lot
Daniel 7: 11 pm:
yeah, i get what he's saying, like my speed, when i have like crazeh fast and syncopated rhythms that's all i can do
jyuunes 7: 11 pm:
and hmmm what else
can't totally remmeber LOL we actually talked about some stuff not music related
like singing in the shower XD
and uh
he gave me "assignments"
Daniel 7: 12 pm:
xD that is sorta music related
and really what?
jyuunes 7: 12 pm:
pretty basic
like, the #2 chorale
play it twice, a runthrough
without stopping even if i make mistakes
Daniel 7: 12 pm:
i know what he's doing
jyuunes 7: 12 pm:
and then fix the mistakes later
Daniel 7: 12 pm:
it's called 8tudes
short pieces we get to master
jyuunes 7: 13 pm:
uhhh yah
and 3x runthrough on children's shoes
Daniel 7: 13 pm:
you're basically sight reading and perfecting them
jyuunes 7: 13 pm:
;0; sight reading is super hard for brass playahssss
well
horn players are even worse because if you dont
Daniel 7: 13 pm:
really why?
jyuunes 7: 13 pm:
hear the notes
you'll screw up the notes SO SO BADDLYYY
cuz like
Daniel 7: 13 pm:
pitches?
jyuunes 7: 14 pm:
one fingering is like, 7 different notes @____@
Daniel 7: 14 pm:
yeah i know, our fingerings are really note specific cept for like some notes
but there's an octave diff so we know
jyuunes 7: 14 pm:
luckeh : PPPPP
so yeah
he actually ended up staying
15 minutes more than he should've XD
Daniel 7: 14 pm:
so XD
jyuunes 7: 15 pm:
he said that
i was his oldest student
his students are mostly like, 6th graders, 5th graders
Daniel 7: 15 pm:
coolios
it's ok
jyuunes 7: 15 pm:
so lucky
xDD
